Tumor Registrars Association of Connecticut, Inc.Greetings TRAC Members: April 23, 2012 Six cancer registrars, nationwide, have been asked to be Subject Matter Experts (SME) for the revision of the Cancer Registrar Qualification Standard within the VA system. The purpose of this group under the quidance of VACO Human Resource Specialists, (Office of Professional Management), will be to differentiate the positions in Medical Records and Cancer Registry. As yoou know in the VA system, as well as in the community at large, there are no qualifying standards or job classifications specific for Cancer Registrars, as we found when speaking to the State of Connecticut. Our first task is to gather a variety of Functional Statements and/or job descriptions of the various grades. We need your help - Please email copies of the functional statements per grade level at your facility to: donna.connery@va.gov We are requesting functional statements and job descriptions from the private sector and the VA system. Anything that you are willing to share would be greatly appreciated. The facility names will be de-identified for the work group. The more information that we can gather, the better it will be for writing position levels for Cancer Registrars on a national level. Thank you, Donna Areas of Interest
